ALA announces the winners of the Stonewall Book Awards: Israel Fishman Non-Fiction Award, and Barbara Gittings Literature and Poetry Awards.

“Halfway to Somewhere,” written and illustrated by Jose Pimienta, and published by RH Graphic, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books, a division of Penguin Random House, and “One of the Boys,” by Victoria Zeller, published by Arthur A. Levine, an imprint of Levine Querido, are the 2026 recipients of the Stonewall Book Awards – Mike Morgan and Larry Romans Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award.

The American Library Association (ALA) today announced the top books, digital media, video and audio books for children and young adults – including the Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Newbery and Printz awards – at its LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience held January 24-27 in Phoenix.

“Lunar Boy,” by Jes and Cin Wibowo and published by HarperAlley, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers;and “Canto Contigo,” by Jonny Garza Villa, published by Wednesday Books, an imprint of St. Martin’s Publishing Group; are the 2025 recipients of the Stonewall Book Awards – Mike Morgan and Larry Romans Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award.

“DEED” by torrin a. greathouse and published by Wesleyan University Press, and “Some Strange Music Draws Me In” by Griffin Hansbury and published by W.W. Norton & Company are the 2025 recipients of the Stonewall Book Awards – Barbara Gittings Poetry and Literature Awards, respectively.

“Sex with a Brain Injury: On Concussion and Recovery” by Annie Liontas and published by Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, LLC is the 2025 recipient of the Stonewall Book Awards – Israel Fishman Non-Fiction Award.
